A-Frame Launches Construction Management Service for Complex IT Projects

Construction Industry Practices Serve Buyer's Interests Throughout all Key Phases of an IT Project—From Concept to Go-live

PHILADELPHIA, PA – April 4, 2008 – A-Frame Technology Services LLC is pleased to announce its formation and the launch of its Construction Management service for information technology (IT) projects. A-Frame was formed as a result of the merger of three specialty consulting firms; Blue Ray Consulting, GCi, and Panaro Dynamics. A-Frame principals have their roots in technology acquisition, design and implementation and share the passion to improve how IT projects are purchased, designed and managed to reduce risk and ensure success.

“For too long, IT projects fail more often than they succeed,” says Dan Brennan, A-Frame Principal. “But in the construction industry, there is a significantly greater success rate because of the use of construction managers, independent architects, and general contractors. We leverage construction processes and tools, like contracts from the American Institute of Architects, for an IT project leveraging hundreds of years of experience from the construction industry. The result is a repeatable process that spans four key phases of a project; Concept, Design, Bid and Build.”

A-Frame serves multiple roles throughout the project life-cycle. In the Concept phase, it helps the project owner establish the project vision, analyze solution alternatives, validate feasibility and budget, and produce a conceptual design for the solution selected. Once the conceptual design is in place, independent architects are identified and evaluated and one firm is selected to perform the Design phase services to produce a detailed blueprint.

During the Bid phase, contractors are located and evaluated to construct or implement the solution captured in the project blueprint. Throughout the entire life-cycle, A-Frame oversees the contract administration and governance necessary to keep the project on track. Much like the construction industry, independent inspections are performed to ensure standards are met and requirements are satisfied.

For qualified projects, a surety bond is secured to guaranty the performance of the Build phase, leveraging a best practice in public construction projects to hold vendors accountable for budget adherence and timely delivery.
